Sri Lanka- Women in the Workforce and Why It Matters

To celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD), World Bank officially kicked off a week of exciting celebratory events across the South Asia Region – the South Asia Women in the Workforce Week.   The events planned highlights our efforts on women’s economic empowerment, convene relevant stakeholders, and engage the public conversation on how having women in the workforce is just SMART Economics.


World Bank Country Director for Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka Dr. Idah Pswarayi-Riddihough was featured in a “Spotlight Series” interview with Nisha Arunatilake, Director of Research at the Institute of Policy Studies,  discussing “women in the workforce and why it matters for Sri Lanka”
